iPhone 17 Launch Tonight: Hidden Changes in iOS 26 Exposed

Apple is scheduled to launch its latest iPhone 17 lineup tonight during the “Awe Dropping” event. The company will also introduce iOS 26, a major overhaul of its mobile operating system for iPhones and iPads.

iOS 26 was first revealed at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2025 earlier this year. According to the company, the update brings a fresh design, improved app experiences, and smarter functionality for everyday use.

The headline feature of iOS 26 is its new design language, dubbed Liquid Glass. Inspired by the translucent interface seen in Apple’s visionOS, Liquid Glass incorporates a material that refracts and reflects its surroundings. This redesign extends across menus, notifications, options, Control Center, and several Apple apps, including Messages, Phone, and Camera.

The lock screen has been overhauled with a redesigned time and date widget and a dynamic element that adapts to the wallpaper. Users can also create spatial scenes that add depth when the phone moves. On the home screen, icons can now be customized, including making them partially translucent.

iOS 26 includes updates beyond its visual overhaul. Apple has redesigned the Camera app, introduced live translation through Apple Intelligence, and added AI-generated call summaries. The system also features a new Games app and enhancements to Visual Intelligence, among other improvements.

Apple confirmed that iOS 26 will support devices powered by the A13 chip or newer. Older models such as the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max are expected to be ineligible for the update. Devices slated to receive iOS 26 include:

Apple typically releases new iOS updates shortly after new iPhone sales begin. iOS 26 is expected to start rolling out on September 15, 2025, though availability may vary by device.
