iPhone 17 Air Leak Reveals Major Changes Before September Launch
Apple may launch iPhone 17 Air in Sept 2025 with new design, A19 chip, 24MP selfie camera, and ultra-slim 5.5mm body, leaks suggest.

Apple is preparing to unveil the next iteration of its flagship smartphones in September 2025, and early leaks suggest substantial changes across the lineup. The upcoming iPhone 17 series is expected to include four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a newly introduced variant — the iPhone 17 Air.
Positioned between the Pro and Pro Max, the iPhone 17 Air is set to distinguish itself through design and hardware adjustments. Industry sources indicate that the standard iPhone 17 may feature a 6.3-inch display, aligning it with the iPhone 17 Pro. The Pro Max version is expected to carry a 6.9-inch screen. All models may incorporate ProMotion technology with a 120Hz refresh rate, previously exclusive to higher-end devices.
Tipster Majin Bu recently shared an image that allegedly reveals a redesigned front camera location on the iPhone 17 Air. Unlike prior iPhones that housed the selfie camera on the right side of the Dynamic Island, the new Air model might relocate it to the left — a potential signal of deeper changes within the device’s internal structure.
A separate leak, showing what appears to be a screen protector specifically shaped for the iPhone 17 Air, has amplified rumors of an ultra-thin build. If reports hold, the Air could measure just 5.5mm at its slimmest point. Achieving such compact dimensions might require Apple to significantly reengineer internal components.
Apple is projected to enhance the front-facing camera across the entire iPhone 17 series. All variants, including the Air, could ship with a new 24MP front camera, replacing the 12MP sensor used in the iPhone 16 generation. This would represent a notable upgrade in selfie and video call quality.
Inside, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to carry Apple’s forthcoming A19 chip, supported by 8GB of RAM. This setup mirrors the memory configuration of the iPhone 16 Plus, suggesting strong multitasking and smooth performance. The A19 chip is likely to offer increased efficiency and extend device longevity through future iOS support.
Though Apple has not yet confirmed a specific date, the iPhone 17 lineup is anticipated to debut in September 2025.
