Apple’s most recent software update, iOS 26, has brought users into yet another shocking bug — this time affecting the pictures that are sent from Android smartphones. iPhone users have reported that photos taken with the Android smartphones are being shown with a bizarre red tint in the Apple Photos app, thus creating new worries about the update's reliability.
What is the iOS 26 red tint issue?
As per the reports given by different users on the platform Reddit, pictures taken with the famous Android devices like the Motorola Razr and the Samsung Galaxy S24 have their opened on iPhones with iOS 26 automatically applying a red filter. It is surprising that some users do not think the problem to be limited to Just Android pictures. In some instances, even the photographs clicked using iPhone 15 look colored when they are viewed on newer models like iPhone 17.
The problem appears to get worse while processing photos. Customers report that the pictures turn into black and white when they are being cut, which makes even the most basic photo tweaks very annoying. The worst part is that the bug is said to be still there even after updating to iOS 26.2, which is the latest patch released by Apple.
Is there any workaround?
Although Apple has not recognized the problem yet, users have come up with a temporary solution. Opening the subject picture, hitting the Edit option, and finally choosing the Revert one seems to get rid of the red filter in the majority of the cases. However, this technique only provides a manual workaround and does not offer any permanent solution.
Apple has not yet indicated a fix
Till now, Apple hasn’t made any public announcement confirming the red tint bug or giving an estimated time for repair. The rising number of complaints, however, suggests that users would like the company to fix the issue in the next software update.
iOS 26 woes keep on going
iOS 26 has not been the first time the Apple operating system was subjected to criticism. Shortly after the update, users reported many issues, among them sluggish performance, app crashes, animation stutters, and high battery drain. Some users are complaining about the new Liquid Glass design as it is hard to read and visually distracting. Apple has made minor updates since then that allow slightly more of a custom feel in design.
To counter the latest complaints, Apple has provided a fix for a significant camera bug affecting the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and more than 20 security vulnerabilities in iOS 26.2 have been taken care of, including App Store permission issues and system-level problems in Photos, Messages, and Screen Time.
Temporary fixes will suffice for the meanwhile for users dealing with the red picture glitch — and they will be waiting for Apple to provide a permanent solution.
