Apple is likely to begin the public beta rollout of iOS 26 in the coming days, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The anticipated release may occur around July 23, slightly later than the company’s usual mid-July schedule.
In a recent PowerOn newsletter, Gurman indicated that the public beta will likely align with the fourth developer beta version. This deviation from the traditional third developer beta match reflects the scope of changes introduced in iOS 26.
Alongside iOS 26, Apple is also expected to open public beta access to other upcoming software updates. These include iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, watchOS 26, HomePod Software 26, and firmware for AirPods.
Apple will end support for several older iPhone models in iOS 26. The iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and XR will not receive the update. The supported device list includes:
* iPhone 11 series
* iPhone 12 series (including Mini and Pro variants)
* iPhone 13 series
* iPhone 14 series
* iPhone 15 series
* iPhone 16 series
* iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd Gen)
* iPhone 16e
Apple’s latest operating system introduces several core enhancements:
* Liquid Glass Interface: Updated interface visuals feature more translucent and fluid design components.
* Siri Enhancements: Context-driven responses and advanced on-screen utility.
* Calling Tools: Includes live voicemail, improved call screening, and redesigned control options.
* Photos App Redesign: Overhauled layout with customizable album displays and enhanced search functions.
* Standalone Passwords App: Central hub for managing passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi data, and shared logins.
* Messages Enhancements: Scheduled messaging, new emoji reactions, and expanded satellite messaging capabilities.
* iPhone Mirroring on macOS: Enables direct iPhone interaction from Mac systems with sound and visual support.
* Tap to Cash: Peer-to-peer payment via proximity-based iPhone contact.
* Mail Organization: Automatic email categorization under labels like Primary, Updates, and Promotions.
* Journal Tools: New tracking dashboards, searchable entries, and goal features.
* Gaming Improvements: Game Mode provides latency reduction and optimized accessory performance.
* Accessibility Options: Eye tracking, vocal control features, music-based haptic feedback, and motion-aware prompts.
The iOS 26 public beta is expected to be available through Apple’s Beta Software Program, which allows users to test pre-release versions before the official launch later this year.
