Apple released iOS 26 beta 4 for iPhone users enrolled in its developer program, refining interface elements and restoring key features ahead of the update’s official rollout.
The latest build reverts the translucent overlay applied in beta 3. Menus in Photos, Music and the App Store display background colors with higher transparency, bringing back the so-called Liquid Glass effect.
AI-driven notification summaries for news and entertainment apps have returned. Marked “Summarised by Apple Intelligence,” the opt-in feature aims to deliver accurate recaps without the headline glitches seen in earlier tests.
Camera mode switching now moves the selector button in step with swipe gestures. This shift replaces the static indicator used in prior betas.
New iOS 26-style wallpapers for CarPlay appear in blue, green and red. While some legacy designs have been removed, the additions support both light and dark display modes.
Under Face ID & Passcode settings, prompts now specify which code is required to access each menu. The updated layout guides users more directly through security options.
The Passwords app gains the ability to pull site logos and supported passkey options directly from websites, simplifying credential management.
Call Screening adds three modes: allow all, require callers to state their purpose or send unknown calls to voicemail. The change targets spam prevention ahead of the public release.
The beta continues Apple’s push to fine-tune user experience ahead of iOS 26’s formal debut later this year. Participants can download the update from the Apple Developer Center.
