Instagram Introduces ‘Blend’: A New Feature for Shared Reels Feeds With Friends

Instagram rolled out Blend as a new social feature that provides users with a custom Reels feed they can share and experience together with their friends. The feature launch on a global scale focuses on making Reels discovery more interactive while creating shared spaces for users to explore content together.

What is Instagram Blend?

The Instagram Blend function allows users to build a personalized Reels feed together through DMs with either one friend or multiple friends. The Blend feed generates personalized content for groups based on the collective viewing habits and interests of all members. The content is updated daily to provide you with a new and exciting experience whenever you visit.

To join a Blend you must receive an invitation from someone who starts the Blend within your DM group. The shared feed activates for all chat participants after a friend accepts the invitation.

How does it work?

To create a Blend, follow these steps:

• Open a one-on-one or group DM chat.

• Locate the new Blend button at the top of your chat screen to start the process.

• You can send a Blend invitation to your chat friends by selecting the “Invite” option.

• The Blend becomes active when one or more members accept the invitation.

The shared feed remains accessible at all times through tapping the Blend icon within the chat.

Instagram alerts other group members when users engage with Reels through likes and reactions which promotes conversations and enhances chat interactions.
