Huawei Watch Update Adds Satellite SOS and Safety Tools

Huawei has started rolling out a significant update for its premium smartwatch, the Watch Ultimate, upgrading it to HarmonyOS version 5.0.0.30. The latest firmware introduces new safety and convenience features focused on satellite communication and user experience enhancement.
One of the key additions is the "Beidou Satellite SMS Quick Help" function. This capability enables users to send emergency messages directly via satellite in areas without mobile network coverage, eliminating the need to navigate through multiple steps. The Watch Ultimate is among the first wearables capable of two-way satellite messaging.
The update also includes new anti-touch features to improve performance in specific sports modes. A rotating crown mechanism now prevents unintended screen touches during diving, while the golf mode gains its own accidental touch safeguard, allowing smoother usage during play.
Another enhancement adds a double-tap gesture to the device’s lower button, allowing quick access to payment applications—a convenience feature aimed at speeding up transactions.
Several performance improvements are bundled in the update. Offline map usability during workouts has been refined. Golfers can now download more course data and temporarily save game rounds with improved efficiency. The update further optimizes system visuals and improves interface rendering and overall stability in various use cases.
