Huawei has officially revealed its newest flagship smartphones, the Mate 80 series, and the foldable Mate X7, that is a part of the company’s strategy to establish a foothold in the premium smartphone segment in China. The new mobile devices come equipped with the Kirin 9030 chips and the latest HarmonyOS 6, a complete tech rejuvenation of sorts for the company.
The Mate 80 series is a modern testament to the innovation that has characterized the brand over the years. In the case of Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro, these include an imaging system with neural networks, outdoor expeditions mode, emergency communication tools, and a high-resolution display that should be able to satisfy even those highly demanding users who look for both efficiency and performance in the product.
One of the most important aspects that the market analysts are talking about is the focus on Huawei’s own Kirin 9030 chipset along with the new capabilities of the HarmonyOS 6 that showcase the company’s loyalty towards in-house technology development.
Richard Yu, Huawei’s consumer business head, and the company’s executive director, emphasized the pros associated with the company’s vertically integrated model, which includes design, hardware, and software. He further stated that the performance of the Mate 80 Pro Max, Mate 80 RS, and the foldable Mate X7 is more than 40% better than their predecessors.
Besides the enhanced performance of devices, Huawei is relying upon the HarmonyOS to uplift its market position. The company along with its allies has around 300,000 apps and services developed in the past year, greatly extending its ecosystem to cover the smartphones and the connected devices.
Yu commented that the number of devices running on HarmonyOS 5 or 6 has crossed 27 million and the installed base is growing at a rate of about 100,000 devices per day. The rise of the operating system is interpreted as a key factor in Huawei’s plan to gradually phase out the dependency on external platforms.
