Huawei has added the ability to connect the devices of its ecosystem with those of Apple and this has been made possible through file sharing between the people using HarmonyOS 6 smartphones and iPhones/iPads, respectively. Undoubtedly, this is a major step in Huawei’s pursuit of better connectivity through its ecosystem.

Huawei that was the first to introduce mobile-to-PC collaboration and seamless device integration, has made the transfer of files between different operating systems possible through an app that has been released recently on the Apple App Store. This app is exclusively for the use of his/her connected HarmonyOS 6 device and the iOS or iPadOS device and lets the user do the sending and receiving of files under a single interface.

Some main features of the new app are as follows:

Device Search: Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads can discover nearby Huawei devices that are running HarmonyOS 6.0 or above.

File Transfer and Reception: The transfer of different types of files such as contacts, images, videos, and others is supported.

Device Information: Shows the specifics of the device and provides the option to set a picture as the avatar for the app.

Transfer Records: The users can track the data that they have sent and received.

Help and Feedback: Users can get app usage information and also give feedback through this feature.

According to the first reports from the users, the app allows the preview of files to be done before the actual transfer, and this includes photos, motion photos, and videos. The transfers are at the moment supported for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

Huawei has limited the use of the app to HarmonyOS 6 devices in China only. The company's venture into iOS compatibility reflects its dedication to providing users with a more connected experience, thus dairy keeping the main global competitors at bay when it comes to the HarmonyOS ecosystem.

The app release comes after Huawei's HarmonyOS 6 release, which brought in cutting-edge inter-device cooperation tools, allowing not only file sharing but also remote control of the devices within the HarmonyOS network. This move towards a more connected ecosystem has now allowed some of those features to be used on Apple devices for the first time.
