How To Create Custom UPI ID on Google Pay and Paytm: Step-By-Step Guide
Learn how to create a custom UPI ID on Google Pay and Paytm with this step-by-step guide. Protect your privacy and secure your payments by using aliases instead of phone numbers.
Google Pay and Paytm now allow users to create custom UPI IDs, helping them protect privacy and secure digital transactions.

The Indian Market has, since some years, increasingly embraced digital modes for payment, with UPI reigning as the king from affordable movie tickets to payments to local shopkeepers. The enormous use of UPI has also generated concerns regarding privacy and online scams, where fraudsters misuse personal information linked to UPI IDs.
For users' security, GooglePay and Paytm have added the option of creating custom UPI IDs, allowing customers to replace their real names or phone numbers with an alias. This feature not not only secures privacy but also allows more flexibility in personalizing digital transactions.
Why Custom UPI IDs Are Important
Most commonly, UPI IDs carry the phone number or name of a person (e.g., 9876543210@paytm or username@okicici). This means the user might conceal sensitive information through customization and use an alias instead, which lessens the risk of misuse while ensuring smooth transactions.
