How SoftOrbits managed to build a universal yet simple MP3 converter tool
SoftOrbits is a software development company that has released one of the most convenient and universal MP3 conversion tools available on the market. Here are the reasons behind its success and what the team plans to do next.
How SoftOrbits managed to build a universal yet simple MP3 converter tool

SoftOrbits is a software development company focused on creating convenient utilities that help users deal with time-consuming tasks. Started as a small startup, nowadays it boasts over a million yearly downloads, 300,000 users, and recognition from CNET, Softonic, and OISV.
SoftOrbits’ MP3 Converter is among the most successful products created by the team, and it embodies all of the design principles and core values of the company: an easy-to-use tool that targets non-experts and enables them to achieve expert-level results.
“When we started Softorbits, we wanted to build products that appeal to amateur photographers, average users, and other clients who care for quality but might not have enough time or opportunities to become experts themselves and rely on complex software with dozens of functionalities. If it comes to evaluating how close we are to achieving this ideal, MP3 Converter is one of the best tools we created,” says Eugene Ustinenkov, CEO of SoftOrbits and AlarmFront.
SoftOrbits’ MP3 Converter offers lossless conversions that convert files without lowering the audio quality. The tool recognizes dozens of various file extensions and enables more than a thousand conversion combinations. MP3 Converter also provides a batch mode, allowing users to convert thousands of files at the same time.
“Batch mode became somewhat of a signature feature, and we’re proud of it. A lot of tools miss just how convenient batch mode really is, and sometimes they either don’t include it or only offer limited functionality — and both result in a bad user experience. We ensured that the MP3 Converter can handle a huge number of files so that every customer’s needs will be met at all times,” says Eugene Ustinenkov, CEO of SoftOrbits with over 10 years of software development experience.
Not only that, the tool is available in macOS and Windows editions and comes with a built-in downloading engine that allows for downloading audio from popular streaming platforms like YouTube, SoundCloud, and Facebook. Finally, MP3 Converter allows users to edit audio files: from splitting and trimming to merging, denoising, and cleaning up.
“We believe that automation is key, and generally ensure that everything the tool promises to do is possible through just a few inputs. However, we recognize the value of manual editing as well, so the MP3 Converter has these functionalities too. This way we can appeal to even more people, so it’s no surprise the tool turned out to be one of our most popular utilities,” says Eugene Ustinenkov, CEO of SoftOrbits, Candidate of Technical Sciences.
However, the current version of the MP3 Converter can still theoretically be improved. Right now, SoftOrbits works on two fronts — implementing new AI features into their well-established products and switching their distribution model to SaaS.
“We see the power of natural language recognition and automation provided by AI, so we’ve already integrated AI features into seven of our products. Right now we’re looking for new ways to use the technology and are focused on enhancing convenience and accessibility,” says Eugene Ustinenkov.
When it comes to these two qualities, the SaaS distribution model is also a huge step forward, explain the experts behind SoftOrbits. Although right now the company provides some SaaS solutions to corporate clients, it plans to offer most of its products this way to its everyday users.
“Enabling online access and removing hardware requirements is incredibly valuable. In fact, it is a total game changer, so we’ve been planning this for a long time. Now we’re finally taking the first steps towards this transition process, so while there is a long road ahead, our customers can expect some big changes in the near future,” says Hannes Jansen, writer and editor at SoftOrbits.
