Honor Magic V5 Foldable Debuts as Thinnest Phone Ever

Honor has officially introduced the Magic V5, a new book-style foldable smartphone, in the Chinese market. With a folded thickness of just 8.8mm and an unfolded profile measuring 4.1mm in the Ivory White variant, the device is being promoted as the slimmest foldable smartphone globally. Other color options, however, measure 9mm when folded.

The Magic V5 is available in four finishes: Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown. Honor has started hinting at a broader rollout but has not revealed an exact timeline for the global release.

Equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, the Magic V5 pairs this with up to 16GB RAM and internal storage that scales up to 1TB. The device's primary display spans 7.95 inches, offering a 2352x2172 resolution with 120Hz refresh support. On the front, it includes a 6.43-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 2376x1060 resolution and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits.

Honor has added durability features like the Anti-scratch NanoCry Shield on the external screen, while the inner foldable panel incorporates the brand’s Super Armored Inner Screen technology.

The rear setup includes a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. For selfies and video communication, both screens are equipped with 20MP front-facing cameras.

Powering the Magic V5 is a 6,100mAh battery. It supports fast charging through 66W wired and 50W wireless options. The device also comes with IP58/59 certification, enhancing protection against dust and water exposure.

The smartphone runs on MagicOS 9.0, Honor’s in-house user interface, based on Android, promising fluid multitasking and AI-backed features.

As competition intensifies in the foldable smartphone segment, Honor’s latest entry marks a notable step forward, combining premium hardware, ultra-thin design, and flagship specifications. The global market is now awaiting official confirmation on the Magic V5’s international availability.
