The smartphone is going to be treated with five years of updates for the operating system and seven years for security patches. iQOO justifies the decision as a direct response to customers' wishes as well as the company’s growing concern for long-term support for its devices. Nowadays, however, the competition offers flagship models in the same category with a maximum of four years' worth of OS updates and a maximum of six years' worth of security updates.
Extending the period of OS and security updates is iQOO's way of showing that it cares about the customers' satisfaction and that longer usability of the devices is crucial during the smartphone wars among the major players.
The step in question is part of a wider strategy at iQOO where the company proactively engages with its users. The iQOO 12, which was presupposed to receive three years of OS updates and four years of security support, was granted an extra year and a half span for the latter two this year. Such amendments are rare in the current Android ecosystem.
Moreover, iQOO has also been busy making improvements to its software. The transitioning from FuntouchOS 15 to the release of OriginOS 6 is yet another notable step of the brand. What is more, thanks to the feedback from the users, iQOO has diversified it update roadmap by including such models that were not previously mentioned, like the iQOO Neo 7 and Neo 7 Pro, which are expected to get the OriginOS 6 in the first half of 2026.
November 26, 2025, is the day that the iQOO 15 will be revealed to the world officially. The coming attraction has already exhibited two variations of colors, Legend and Alpha, which are the unique design options for the users. The company has not disclosed any specifics yet but has implied that the device will indeed feature a perfect combination of top-notch specs and the reliability of software.
