Google began distributing Android 16 to Pixel smartphones in June, followed by Samsung’s launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE with stable One UI 8 in July. While other Android manufacturers have been testing Android 16-based builds through limited beta programs, a new industry leak indicates that Samsung may deliver broader access to the update before many competitors finalize their own versions.
Leaker Yogesh Brar reported that OPPO, OnePlus, vivo, and Xiaomi are preparing to announce their Android 16-based platforms in the coming weeks. The announcements are expected to include ColorOS 16, OxygenOS 16, OriginOS 6, FuntouchOS 16, and HyperOS 3 (Global). Most of these unveilings are projected for October, though September announcements remain possible. Global rollouts, however, are unlikely to begin before October, as beta testing across devices is still limited.
Samsung, which has already deployed stable One UI 8 to its latest foldable lineup, plans to extend the update to additional Galaxy models this month. The company has opened beta testing for previous-generation flagships and select mid-range devices, signaling an accelerated schedule compared to its Android competitors.
Many manufacturers have demonstrated Android 16-based firmware in regional markets such as China, but global release plans are still pending. The fragmented rollout contrasts with Apple’s update strategy, which continues to deliver simultaneous platform availability across supported iPhones.
