GTA VII, the next big project of Rockstar Games, is already waiting for the highly expected Grand Theft Auto VI release next year to come to the fore. Though there still are not many details available, the gaming company has indeed given out a small clue about the franchise's future and that, of course, after the launch of GTA VI.
The GTA series, which is considered one of the best games ever made, still has its crown on the head of the gaming world. The industry insiders have strong belief that the upcoming game will break all previous records. This is the reason why Rockstar might also start their new journey through another new entry in the Red Dead series or even a new IP altogether.
The insight into the studio’s strategy for future titles took its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, to make this statement. The head of the company Strauss Zelnick has recently talked about AI being the part of the game development process, mentioning that it will be the support for human rather than replacement.
“Would we be able to just hit a button and have a Grand Theft Auto game with its marketing strategy ready for us tomorrow? No is the answer,” Zelnick said during a conversation with CNBC. He went further stating that the use of AI for the whole process would result in non-original works, thereby lacking the creativity that is typically associated with Rockstar.
Zelnick pointed out the animators at Rockstar, the creative team, and their repeated ability to bring almost perfect gaming experiences. AI can be used in the process but the heart of game design will still be the human creative mind. He compared the feeding of data to a system for a game to be produced with the demand for the fine creativity that the players expect not being met.
All these statements point towards the fact that the development of the future games like GTA VII or even if there are to be Red Dead sequels, the human element at Rockstar will be the one directing the process. AI might be a backup tool but it will not take the charge of any creative process in the gaming industry.
There is already a lot of speculation going on in the industry and at the same time, it is presumed that the upcoming GTA VI will be the main concern of the studio, but gamers should not get their hopes up for a new Grand Theft Auto game for a long time. The analysts' forecasts are rather pessimistic, they think that the first gamers may have access to GTA VII only in the late 2030s which is the exact opposite of Rockstar's careful crafting method.
