GTA VI Trailer Blows Up with Over 475 Million Views in a Day
The next game in the series Grand Theft Auto franchise could be delayed to 2026, but players are consuming every bit of information producer Rockstar Games is releasing to the general public.
A case in point: Rockstar launched the sequel Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer on Tuesday. The company told The Hollywood Reporter that it has gotten over 475 million hits across different platforms.
In comparison, the original trailer of the game that was released from 2023, received a low 93 million GTA VI trailer views over the same time frame (that GTA VI gameplay trailer was exclusive to YouTube, and was the most popular non-musical video launch ever for the site). The company says that the trailer launch is the largest ever video launch. In the realm of film it was it's the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer launched with 365 million viewers within the first 24 hours. In the same time, Fantastic Four: First Steps Fantastic Four: First Steps was launched at more 200 million views.
The reception to the trailer, which has over one billion viewers proves the need for the open-world game, a successor to Rockstar Games GTA VI that was launched in 2013.
The demand for the song extends to the soundtrack. The music featured in the trailer is "Hot Together" by The Pointer Sisters (written by Sharon Robinson) The song was released on the internet, and Spotify states that the streaming of the track increased by 182,000% in the time since it was released.
"Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else," Sulinna Ong who is Spotify's global head for editorial and marketing, stated in an announcement. "Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it's great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way."
GTA VI is the most popular game scheduled for GTA VI release date over the next few years, with a an expected release date of May 26th 2026 (it was initially scheduled for a launch in 2025). Rockstar Games (which is owned by Strauss Zelnick's Take-Two Interactive) has been working on this game for many years and even confirmed that the game was already in development in 2022.
