Rockstar Games said Tuesday that the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has amassed more than 475 million views across multiple platforms, eclipsing the roughly 93 million views generated by the first trailer in a comparable period last year. The studio provided the figures in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
Fans have awaited a sequel for more than a decade. Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013, has sold over 200 million copies and generated more than -$8 billion in revenue, making it one of the top-selling entertainment products of all time.
The new trailer, released May 6, introduces two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, whose partnership unravels when a heist in the fictional state of Leonida goes off track. Leonida draws inspiration from Florida’s environment, including the neon-lit streets of Vice City and surrounding coastal areas. As the duo navigates a sprawling criminal network, survival hinges on their growing reliance on each other.
Rockstar also confirmed a supporting cast of characters that includes Boobie Ike, Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, Dre’Quan Priest, Raul Bautista and Real Dimez. Each figure is expected to influence the evolving storyline in substantive ways.
The game map for Grand Theft Auto VI spans an unprecedented area within the franchise, blending urban hubs, rural landscapes and underwater sections. Rockstar touted the environment as its most detailed creation yet, promising dynamic weather, wildlife encounters and real-time traffic patterns.
Rockstar has set a release date of May 26, 2026, closing a years-long gap since the first teaser appeared in December 2023. The announcement ends months of speculation over timing and pricing.
In India, the standard edition of Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to carry a price tag near Rs 5,999. Deluxe versions could reach approximately Rs 7,299, while global pricing may range up to $100.
Recommended system requirements for PC players include an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1080 Ti or Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card, and at least 150 GB of free storage.
