GTA 5 Free on PS Plus Soon, GTA 6 Delayed to November 2026 Release

The rumor mill is spinning but still no official word from Sony and Rockstar Games. A report from the leaker billbil-kun over at Dealabs mentions that the King of Thieves will be joining the ranks of PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers on November 18. Only the Essential plan subscribers will not be able to access it this time.

GTA 5 will be joined in the Plus ranks again but it hasn't been a free game with the service for a little over a year now. The update is a remapping of the past and players able to do so have a chance to reclaim Los Santos at no cost. GTA 5 has become one of the most played games of all time with over 220 million copies sold. This is also a great chance for both new players and players yet to visit the city to discover its vastness, the thrill of the storyline, and the depth of the gameplay.

Meanwhile, the expected to be next release by Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto VI has been officially postponed. The date for the release has been moved to November 19, 2026, as a result of Take-Two Interactive's announcement during its quarterly earnings call on November 6. The delay will enable the studio to live up to "the expectations of our players," as per a company statement that was shared with IGN. Take-Two has assured that Rockstar has its full support and has underlined the fact that GTA 6 is going to be the "largest and most revolutionary entertainment experience in gaming" with the highest quality.

Initially, GTA 6 was to be launched in the fall of 2025 but its schedule had seemed to be on target according to CEO Strauss Zelnick, who had also dismissed rumors about a delay. The waiting game for the fans will be longer than expected; however, it is assumed that the extra time spent on development will result in a game that is more refined, and engaging, and has a delightful user experience.
