The newest update of the RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Grand Theft Auto 4 is released. The modder xoxor4d has come with Update 1.1.5, which is mainly for the players of high-end GPU. It allows them to enjoy the classic GTA title via enhanced real-time ray tracing.
Several visual fixes have been brought to light by this update. Issues regarding mesh and glass rendering along with bergen wood textures have been addressed. No longer do the metal surfaces on taxis fail to capture the light; rain particle effects have become more real too. Projected light coronas can be toggled by players and some hidden textures can be unveiled through the “rtx.conf” file, which gives more control over the game's visual fidelity.
Updating to version 1.1.5 is recommended for those who are already using the RTX Remix even though most of the other changes are minor. The new version can be downloaded from [here].
The HD Texture Pack is a great supplement for those who wish to make GTA 4 more visually appealing. The pack does not cover the whole game at present but has already made a good deal of low-res textures look quite sharp and immersive thus upgrading the game world. The mod community has made available a showcase video featuring the improvements.
The RTX Remix is not confined to GTA 4. Modders have made similar path-tracing improvements to other classic titles, such as Vice City, Black Mesa, Star Wars Republic Commando, NFS: Underground, Manhunt, BioShock, Morrowind, Max Payne, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. The Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Nextgen Edition Mod for Vice City fans is a spectacular one as it brings all the original game's missions and maps right into the RAGE Engine where RTX Remix visuals can be applied seamlessly.
The mods based on RTX Remix have gradually drawn more and more users to themselves. Throughout the year 2024, various screenshots and demo videos were released demonstrating the ongoing projects for Tomb Raider 2, Garfield Kart, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, and Midnight Club 2 to name a few, as well as early previews for Fallout: New Vegas, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, Call of Duty 2, and Half-Life.
In addition, there have been demos of other path-tracing mods for the classic shooters and RPGs, which among others included Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, COD 4, COD: WoW, Painkiller, Left 4 Dead 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, Unreal Gold, Doom, Doom 2, Quake, and Serious Sam. Some mods, like the COD4 proof-of-concept mod, remain experimental, but nevertheless, these projects are a clear indication that the modern GPU technology is revamping the older games.
