Google has started the roll out of the October 2025 software update for the original Pixel Watch after the previous releases for Pixel Watch 2 and 3 earlier this month. The update began to be available from today and the plan is to make it accessible over the next several days to all the devices.
The update does not mean that the original Pixel Watch is upgraded to Wear OS 6. On the contrary, it is simply a routine maintenance update in which developers have affected only a few minor bugs and security vulnerabilities. Customers may see no newest features or OS capabilities with this version.
The version BW1A.251005.003.W1 is probably the last official update for the first Pixel Watch that was released in 2022. Google had promised a minimum of three years of software support for its first-generation smartwatch, a promise that has now expired with this month’s update. Even if Google could to some extent prolong support with unscheduled security patches, nothing official has been announced.
With the end of updates, current Pixel Watch users might want to consider an upgrade to the latest models like the Pixel Watch 3 or 4, which have not just received full software support but also constant feature enhancements.
The October 2025 update is part of Google's continuous plan to keep device security as a priority while at the same time working indirectly to make users move to newer hardware. The company recommends users to install the update without delay to keep the devices secure.
