Google Introduces Nano Banana AI Tool in Search: How to Use It Step by Step

Google has expanded the reach of its AI image editing tool, Nano Banana, now available in Google Search and NotebookLM, following its debut in the Gemini app. Since its launch in August, Nano Banana has already generated over 5 billion images. The company plans to bring it to Google Photos in the near future.

What Nano Banana Offers

In Google Search: The new Create mode of Lens allows the users to design photos. All that is required is either to take a picture or to choose it from the gallery and then AI will take care of the rest by editing the picture. This function is available in English for users in the US and India and soon it will be offered in other languages as well.

In NotebookLM: Nano Banana improves the Video Overviews feature with six new styles (such as watercolor and anime), generation of contextual illustrations, and Brief, a format for quick insights.

How to Use Nano Banana in Google Search

• Open Lens in the Google app on Android or iOS.
• Tap the new Create mode (look for the yellow banana icon).
• Try a suggested prompt like, “make a photo booth pic of me,” or take a photo and describe the edits you want.
• Continue editing using follow-up prompts, or share the final image with friends and family.

Create completely new images from scratch by selecting the “Create image” tool and adding a text prompt.
