Bengaluru, 12 January: Almost half of the organisations believe that generative AI can provide better security against cyber threats, which are rising across the world.

In a report titled ‘Global Data Protection Index (GDPI) Cyber Resiliency Multicloud Edition’, Dell Technologies said that organisations have been investing in artificial intelligence (AI) technology to better defend themselves.

“42 per cent report that their organization is investing in AI technology to better defend against attacks. Similarly, 46 per cent believe generative AI can initiallyprovide an advantage toorganizations defending againstcyber criminals,” Dell Technologies said in the report.

The report was collated after surveying several organisations in APJ (Asia Pacific & Japan) region except China.

However, majority of the organisations surveyed anticipated that generative AI will create a large number of data.

“85 per cent (of the organisations surveyed) agree that generative AI will create large volumes of new data that will need to be protected and secured,” the report said.

It pointed out that enterprises operating in the multi-cloud environment are most concerned about data security.

“76 per cent of those using hybrid or publiccloud when updating ordeploying applications are notvery confident that theirorganisations can protect all thedata across their public clouds. Similarly, 39 per cent face challenges over data security when maintaining data in public, and multicloud environments,” the report added.

Most enterprises are taking the help of external firms to boost cybersecurity measures. “50 per cent of organisations have brought in outside support, including cyber recovery services to improve cyber resiliency. 96 per cent of organisations who enlist cloudservice providers to protect theirworkloads report that they have aseparate contract dedicated to this,” the report said.
