Galaxy Buds 3 Support Google’s Gemini AI Assistant via One UI 8 Integration

Samsung has introduced Google's Gemini AI assistant on its Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, enabling users to summon Gemini directly from their earbuds. However, the option appears only when the earbuds are connected to a phone running One UI 8 (Android 16) (Business Standard).
In the Galaxy Wearable app, users might notice a new "Set up Google digital assistant" toggle under Voice controls, but it only shows up on compatible devices. If your phone hasn't received the One UI 8 update, Gemini remains unavailable on your Buds.
Thankfully, One UI 8 support is expanding. The update comes pre-installed on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE. It’s currently in beta for the Galaxy S25 series and is expected to expand next week to include the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6. By September, the rollout will cover the Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and select A-series models—unlocking Gemini access for more Buds owners.
It's worth noting that the Gemini assistant capability relies on processing from the connected phone—not on the earbuds themselves. As such, early adopters have reported inconsistent access based on region and device pairing. Gemini initially launched as a key feature in Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2, and now third-party earbuds like Samsung’s are joining the fray.
To enable Gemini on your Buds, ensure your phone is running One UI 8, then check the Voice controls in the Galaxy Wearable app for the setup option. If it’s not there yet, a future software update should activate it soon.
