Samsung is gearing up for a major announcement at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, where it may unveil its first-ever tri-fold smartphone, possibly named the Galaxy G Fold. According to recent leaks from Setsuna Digital on Weibo, this innovative device will be teased alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, and the Galaxy Watch 8 series.
The tri-fold phone, which folds twice for a more compact design, is rumored to feature a robust titanium and aluminum frame, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and 16GB of RAM, making it a powerful addition to Samsung’s foldable lineup. The main display is expected to measure 9.96 inches, complemented by a 6.49-inch cover screen. Unlike previous models, it may ditch the under-display camera in favor of a punch-hole design, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold7.
Further reports indicate the device will share key components such as speakers and hinge mechanisms with the Z Fold7, while also potentially incorporating a folding battery to maximize capacity within its complex form factor. However, charging speeds might remain moderate compared to industry standards.
Though the tri-fold phone will be previewed in July, its official launch is likely slated for October 2025, following a staggered release approach similar to the Galaxy S25 Edge.
In addition to the tri-fold smartphone, Samsung is also expected to reveal Project Moohan, its first Android XR headset, which was initially showcased at Mobile World Congress 2025 in March and is also projected for an October release.
While Samsung has yet to officially confirm the tri-fold’s name, specs, or exact launch date, the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event is anticipated to provide the first comprehensive look at this groundbreaking foldable device.
