Samsung Issues Urgent Security Advisory for Galaxy Users: Update Your Device Now

Samsung has rolled out a critical security update for its Galaxy smartphones, specifically targeting users in the UK. The company is strongly advising over 40 million Galaxy users with Samsung accounts to activate a powerful new anti-theft feature immediately.
What’s New in Samsung’s Anti-Theft Security Update?
Part of the One UI 7 update, this new security suite includes multiple layers of protection aimed at deterring smartphone theft and protecting user data. Here's what it offers:
🚨 Theft Detection Lock
Using machine learning, Samsung devices can now detect sudden, suspicious movement like a phone snatching and automatically lock the phone to prevent unauthorized access.
📴 Offline Device Lock
If a Galaxy device goes offline for an extended period, Samsung will automatically lock it, preventing thieves from bypassing the system by disabling internet access.
🔒 Remote Lock
Users can remotely lock their stolen phone using their phone number and additional verification steps, giving them a chance to block access and secure their information.
Enhanced Security Layers
The update also introduces two new features that add extra protection:
- Identity Check: If unusual settings changes are detected in an unfamiliar location, the phone will prompt for biometric verification.
- Security Delay: A one-hour delay is added before major actions (like factory reset) can be completed, allowing users enough time to lock their device remotely.
Samsung is using all available channels TV ads, radio, and online platforms to spread awareness and ensure users enable these features as soon as possible.
Availability
These new One UI 7 anti-theft features are pre-installed on the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung is also rolling them out to existing models including the Galaxy S24, S23, S22, and Galaxy Z Flip/Fold 5 and 6 series.
For now, these security alerts and features are exclusive to users in the UK, but Samsung may expand the rollout to other regions in the near future.
