OnePlus is set to unveil its latest compact smartphone, the OnePlus 13s, on June 5 in India. The device features the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, matching the performance chipset of the standard OnePlus 13 model.

Ahead of the launch, OnePlus highlighted the phone’s advanced cooling technology, which the company claims is the best in a compact phone category, designed to prevent performance lag even under high-temperature conditions. This emphasis on thermal management is significant as the release coincides with the peak summer season, followed closely by the monsoon period, though details on water resistance ratings remain undisclosed.

OnePlus recently conducted a market survey with research firm Counterpoint, identifying consumer demand for smaller phones without compromises on battery life or performance. According to the findings, users currently have limited options among compact smartphones from major brands including Apple, Samsung, and OnePlus.

Despite the hype around compact flagships, the iPhone 16 remains the top-selling smartphone globally in early 2025. The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch display, slightly smaller than the OnePlus 13s’s 6.32-inch screen. Samsung’s Galaxy S25, with a 6.2-inch display and a smaller 4,000mAh battery, has not achieved similar sales success, highlighting challenges in the compact Android segment.

Battery capacity for the OnePlus 13s has not yet been officially revealed. However, it is expected to feature a battery close to the 6,000mAh found in the OnePlus 13 and 13R models. Reports suggest it may be slightly smaller but still larger than competing compact devices.

The OnePlus 13s incorporates a new AI-driven “Plus key,” an independent Wi-Fi chipset, 5.5G network support, and a 32-megapixel autofocus front camera. The design and display quality also appear promising, though full specifications and performance benchmarks will be disclosed at launch.

With the compact phone segment showing signs of renewed interest, the OnePlus 13s aims to offer a balanced combination of size, performance, and battery endurance. Further updates are expected as the launch date approaches.
