One UI 8.5 Beta for Galaxy S25: Dual Rec and Single Take Modes Return

Samsung has just rolled out the One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy S25 series, and it has been a little more than a week since the rollout gave the first look of new features and improvements to the early adopters. Now, a lot of users are looking forward to the second beta update, which usually goes along with Samsung expanding the beta program to more countries.

Is that next update just a stone's throw away? The signs are positive. A new beta build, which can be recognized by a version number ending in ZYLD, has been found on Samsung’s servers approximately a week after the first beta. For a better understanding, the first beta came just three days after the program started, therefore, this slightly longer time difference hints that the next build could be available soon.

One of the most anticipated features in the second beta is the Camera Assistant app’s update which will bring back the Dual Rec and Single Take camera modes—one of the main features that were left out of the first beta release.

A rumor that correctly foretold the date of the start of the beta program suggests that the second beta phase may commence on December 22. Though nothing is set in stone, it does provide Galaxy S25 users a probable timeline to look forward to.

In case Samsung chooses to make One UI 8.5 beta available on other devices, a possibility arises that at least one additional model will get to be a part of the program when the second beta starts. One can never be sure with beta programs since plans do change, but taking into account the past updates, this is a reasonable expectation.
