UK-based tech company Nothing is preparing to unveil its next-generation smartphone, the Phone 3, on July 1. As anticipation builds, early information highlights five major enhancements over the previous model, the Phone 2. The upcoming release is expected to mark the brand's shift toward the premium flagship segment.
Nothing has built its identity around transparent rear panels and the signature glyph light system. However, with the Phone 3, the company is expected to drop the glyph light interface entirely. Teasers point to a redesigned rear panel and the possible inclusion of an "Essential Key" for enhanced utility. The display is also tipped to receive an upgrade, with peak brightness expected to reach 3000 nits, nearly double that of Phone 2’s 1600 nits.
The Nothing Phone 2 was powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. In contrast, Phone 3 is likely to run on the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 platform. This switch is expected to deliver significant gains in speed, efficiency, and on-device AI capabilities. The company is also expected to announce broader AI integration during the launch.
The dual-camera layout on Phone 2—featuring 50MP wide and 50MP ultrawide lenses—is expected to make way for a triple-camera system on Phone 3. The new addition could be a 50MP periscope telephoto lens offering up to 3x optical zoom, allowing for greater versatility in photography.
Phone 2 featured a 4700mAh battery with 45W wired charging. Its successor is anticipated to house a 5000mAh battery paired with 100W charging support. However, as with recent industry trends, the charging adapter may be excluded from the box.
The Phone 2 launched at Rs 44,999 in India. The Phone 3’s UK pricing is confirmed at approximately £800, and Indian pricing is expected to land between Rs 80,000 and Rs 90,000. This reflects a significant price jump, positioning the new model as a high-end flagship option.
With multiple upgrades across hardware and design, Nothing’s Phone 3 aims to redefine its brand perception in the competitive smartphone space. More details will be confirmed during the official launch event.
