Indian smartphone maker Lava has officially rolled out two new budget 5G handsets — the Storm Lite 5G and Storm Play 5G, expanding its affordable device portfolio with hardware-firsts in their category.
The Storm Lite 5G becomes one of the initial smartphones to incorporate the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset, coupled with 4GB LPDDR4x RAM, and supports either 64GB or 128GB UFS 2.2 internal storage options, expandable via microSD. On the other hand, the Storm Play 5G runs on the newly introduced MediaTek Dimensity 7060 SoC, boasting 6GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage, making it the first in its class with this memory-storage combination.
Both handsets feature a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth visuals at a wallet-friendly price point. The Storm Lite 5G is equipped with a single 50MP rear camera powered by a Sony IMX752 sensor, while the Storm Play 5G adds an additional 2MP depth sensor. For selfies and video calling, an 8MP front camera is available on both models.
Powering the devices is a 5000mAh battery, with the Lite model supporting 15W charging and the Play model supporting up to 18W via USB Type-C. Both phones ship with Android 15 out of the box in its stock form, with Lava committing to one major Android OS update and two years of security patches.
The Storm series supports 5G (SA/NSA), dual SIM, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GLONASS, and includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and IP64-rated protection for dust and splash resistance.
The Lava Storm Lite 5G is priced at Rs 7,999 for the 4GB + 64GB configuration and will be available in Astral Blue and Cosmic Titanium variants. Sales start June 24 at 12 PM via Amazon India.
Meanwhile, the Storm Play 5G, offered in a single 6GB + 128GB configuration, will retail at Rs 9,999. It goes on sale earlier — on June 19, also on Amazon.in.
Commenting on the launch, Sumit Singh, Head of Product at Lava International, stated that the Storm lineup reflects the company's vision of democratizing next-generation mobile technology. According to him, bringing innovations like Dimensity 7060, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 to budget-conscious users sets a new industry benchmark.
