iPhone 17 vs iPhone 17 Air: Key Specs, Design Leaks Revealed
Apple is likely to unveil iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air in Sept 2025. Leaks show design revamp, A19 chip, 120Hz display, and updated camera specs.

Apple is anticipated to introduce the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, with a newly surfaced model dubbed the iPhone 17 Air positioned to take over the space previously held by the Plus variant.
Reports emerging from the supply chain and industry trackers such as MacRumors indicate that the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will feature a series of technical and structural updates. Apple appears to be aligning the new offerings with refined design choices and hardware improvements across the board.
The iPhone 17 Air is speculated to be approximately 2mm thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro. Leaks suggest that it will debut a redesigned rear with a horizontal camera bar spanning the width of the device, differing from the pill-like dual-camera system expected on the regular iPhone 17 model.
The iPhone 17 is projected to receive a 6.3-inch display, slightly larger than the iPhone 16. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air might feature a 6.6-inch panel. Both devices are likely to support the 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, a feature previously exclusive to Apple’s Pro lineup.
Underneath, both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air may run on the yet-to-be-announced A19 chip, with 8GB of RAM. Additionally, Apple is said to be implementing a new vapor chamber cooling technology aimed at improving thermal regulation during activities such as gaming or high-resolution video processing.
Camera upgrades also seem likely. The iPhone 17 Air could be equipped with a singular 48MP rear camera supporting 2x telephoto functionality, while the standard iPhone 17 is expected to keep the dual setup: a 48MP main sensor accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The front camera across the lineup is rumored to be upgraded from 12MP to 24MP.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series, including the iPhone 17 Air and Pro models, between September 11 and 13, 2025, following its traditional fall launch cycle.
