Apple is on track to unveil its iPhone 17 lineup this September, consistent with its regular release cycle. Industry insiders suggest four devices will be introduced: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 17 Plus model is expected to be dropped due to lower user demand.
Among the four, the iPhone 17 Air is attracting attention as it is projected to be Apple’s slimmest handset to date. The iPhone 17 is expected to carry the A18 chipset, while the Air model may be equipped with the newer A19. The Pro and Pro Max versions will reportedly be powered by the upgraded A19 Pro chip.
According to Weibo user Fixed Focus Digital, Apple will introduce 120Hz display panels on the base iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air. Unlike the ProMotion panels available on the Pro variants, these entry-level models will not feature adaptive refresh rates. Nonetheless, the transition from 60Hz LTPS panels on the iPhone 16 lineup to 120Hz LTPS panels marks a notable jump in responsiveness.
The camera system on the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to undergo a design overhaul. Leaked schematics point to a horizontal rear camera layout that may resemble the visual approach taken by Google’s Pixel line. Some images show a pill-style design, while others suggest Apple might retain its traditional triangular lens layout.
On the front, a significant improvement is anticipated, with the selfie camera resolution doubling from 12MP to 24MP. Rear sensors—standard, ultra-wide, and telephoto—are rumored to adopt 48MP modules, aimed at delivering uniform quality across all shooting modes.
The iPhone 17 series is likely to standardize 12GB of RAM across all models, increasing from the previous generation’s 8GB. This hardware expansion is geared toward better multitasking and improved handling of AI-driven tasks. The iPhone 17 is tipped to run on the A19 chip, while the premium Pro variants will carry the A19 Pro, offering advanced processing and graphics capabilities.
Pricing for the upcoming iPhone 17 series is projected to rise. The base iPhone 17 may be introduced at approximately Rs 89,900 in India, -$899 in the U.S., and AED 3,799 in Dubai. Meanwhile, the top-tier iPhone 17 Pro Max could surpass $2,300 in certain international markets due to tariffs and import fees.
