Apple is reportedly gearing up to unveil its next-generation AirPods Pro 3 at the upcoming WWDC 2025, which kicks off on June 9. Leaks and insider reports suggest this new iteration will bring a significant leap forward in both health-focused features and audio performance, making it one of Apple’s most advanced wearable devices yet.

Internal Code Hints at Imminent Launch

A recent report from MacRumors reveals that Apple has updated its internal software terminology from “AirPods Pro 2nd generation” to “AirPods Pro 2 or later” — a subtle yet strong indicator that a new model is on the horizon. While Apple traditionally launches its audio products alongside new iPhones in September, a WWDC release wouldn't be unprecedented.

Cutting-Edge Health Features: Heart Rate and Temperature Monitoring

Among the most anticipated upgrades is the inclusion of in-ear heart rate sensors and body temperature tracking — features that could elevate the AirPods Pro 3 into a health companion alongside the Apple Watch. These in-ear sensors are expected to deliver more precise data during workouts compared to wrist-based wearables.

Introducing the H3 Chip: Faster, Smarter, More Efficient

The AirPods Pro 3 are also expected to debut Apple’s new H3 chip, promising major improvements in Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), audio processing, and battery life. This next-gen chip could address user complaints about weakened ANC in recent firmware updates and deliver a smoother, more immersive listening experience.

Refreshed Design and More Compact Case

While Apple is expected to retain the signature AirPods stem, minor design refinements are anticipated. The charging case might see a reduction in size, aligning with the upcoming AirPods 4 design language. However, a smaller form factor may come at the cost of MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging compatibility. Apple is also said to be considering gesture-based controls in place of the LED indicator and pairing button.

Enhanced Audio Experience with High-Resolution Support

Audio performance is also set for a boost. Upgraded drivers and revamped ANC algorithms are in the works, according to leaker Kosutami. High-resolution audio support may also make its debut, positioning the AirPods Pro 3 as a serious contender for audiophiles seeking premium wireless sound.
