5 Apple Devices That Could Be Discontinued After iPhone 17 Launch
Apple’s much-anticipated iPhone 17 launch on September 9, 2025, in California is set to make waves with four new iPhone variants, a refreshed Apple Watch lineup, and possibly a new AirPods Pro upgrade. But while new devices enter the spotlight, some of Apple’s older and popular models are expected to exit the stage.
Here are five Apple devices that could be discontinued after the iPhone 17 launch:
1. iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max
The iPhone 16 Pro series will likely be the first to step aside once the new iPhone 17 Pro models are unveiled. Apple typically keeps only the latest flagship lineup active, which means the 16 Pro series won’t feature on the official Apple Store anymore. However, buyers may still find them through third-party retailers until stocks last.
2. iPhone 15 and 15 Plus
Launched in 2023, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are also expected to be removed from Apple’s official lineup. Post-September 9, the entry-level iPhone on the Apple Store will likely be the iPhone 16e. While these models will disappear from the official site, limited availability may continue across e-commerce platforms and offline stores.
3. Apple Watch Series 10
Apple usually replaces one watch series with another. With the arrival of the Apple Watch Series 11, the Watch Series 10—introduced in 2024—will most likely be retired.
4. Apple Watch Ultra 2
The Apple Watch Ultra 3, expected to be unveiled next week, could mark the end of the Ultra 2, which debuted in 2023. Last year, Apple only refreshed the Ultra 2 with a new color variant, signaling its likely phase-out this year.
5. Apple Watch SE
The affordable Apple Watch SE may also be discontinued as Apple prepares to launch the Watch SE 2. Having two SE variants in the lineup increases production challenges, so Apple is expected to streamline its smartwatch portfolio.
While the iPhone 17 lineup and next-gen Apple Watches will dominate headlines, Apple is also quietly restructuring its portfolio. If you’ve been eyeing the iPhone 15, 16 Pro, or Watch SE, this may be your last chance to grab one before they disappear from Apple’s official shelves.
