In the past, the conversation around high-end smartphones in India had mainly focused on Apple iPhones and Samsung Galaxy S series, with OnePlus getting an occasional mention. Vivo, a brand that was once associated with lower-priced products only, has, however, silently changed the trend over the years. Nowadays, the creator's and photography forums often ask the question: “Is it time to get the latest Vivo X?”
The change is attributed to a planned and executed strategy by Vivo that puts the innovations and consumers’ needs first, as a senior executive of Vivo India remarked to Times Now Tech. The X50 series was the triggering point for this strategy. The market was doubtful about the company’s move to the flagship segment, but Vivo was determined to play the long game over the short term assault on the brand.
The X series has gone through many more models by now—X50, X70, X80, and X90, till X200 and now X300, and the focus has always been on camera features, which are gimbal stabilization, periscope telephoto lenses, advanced night photography, and lens coating. Nevertheless, the brand has remained in a priority view and keeps saying that premium aura is not just in the camera but also in the design, performance and software of the lifestyle.
Vivo in 2024–25 not only renewed the premium collection with standard base and Pro models but also exceeded it with ultra-luxury styles and entry-star like X200 FE that were feature-rich aimed at young, traveling consumers. It was a reflection of the brand’s long-standing belief that smartphones have turned into identity statements rather than mere instruments. The market’s perception of the brand was being reshaped subtly but surely through early endorsement by creators, photographers, and journalists.
Vivo’s imaging advancement is heavily reliant on its association with Zeiss, which is actually the case that the camera of smartphones of many brands is partnered together. Such a relationship between Vivo and Zeiss is technical to the utmost. They co-invent the lens systems, where features like Zeiss T coatings, portrait styles, and lens simulation technologies are also integrated.
This is done alongside India-specific computational photography that improves the performance in the respective area with regard to lighting, skin tones, and events like weddings and festivals. AI-driven tools such as Wedding Style Portraits and Diwali Portraits are indicative of the brand's regional experience optimization.
The software has also progressed to the highest quality of hardware. The X300 series introduces OriginOS in India, which is the replacement of the Funtouch OS. The new system offers seamless navigation, customized options, and better productivity which altogether forms the premium package.
Vivo doesn't disclose anything specific but puts foldable and Ultra-grade models on the not so far away future. Ultra-grade would mean the continuation of innovations. The X series, which was a cautious venture in the beginning by introducing X50, has now become the favorite of professional users and is considered to be on par with iPhones and Galaxy flagship phones. The X300 series is not only a new product but also a landmark in brand confidence that has been secured through steady execution and consumer-centered strategies.
Vivo’s executive said, “There will be challenges, no doubt. But our commitment will guarantee that the pace does not slow down.”
