First Look at Honor Robot Phone: AI-Powered Rear Camera Stuns Users

Honor has disclosed a teaser for its forthcoming “Robot Phone” that has already created quite a stir before the company's official presentation at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona. The 2-minute 40-second long teaser, posted on the brand’s YouTube channel, indicates the arrival of a new smartphone that combines the classic phone look with a mechanical twist.

When looked at from the front, the machine is just another smartphone. The distinction comes from its back where a robotic arm is expected to take control during the photo shoot, adjusting for the user's need. Although a few have remarked that the teaser seems to be generated by AI, Honor has reassured that the product is indeed real and further updates will be given at MWC 2026.

The incorporation of mechanical elements in mobile devices is nothing new. The likes of OnePlus have dabbled with sliding front cameras, but Honor's strategy has its eyes set on the rear camera instead. The manufacturer's claim, that the Robot Phone will be more than a mere gadget, is to behave like a companion with a response system for the user interaction.

“Smartphones should provide more than just utility; they should establish a nice bond with the users,” the Honor representative, stating the emotional aspect of the device, said. Although information is still very limited, market watchers are betting that the official name and features will come out in Q1 of 2026.

The teaser reveals a scenario where the robotic arm and camera system not only recognize the clothes worn by the user but also imitate and tease, for example, by playing with a baby on the desk.
