Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, has unveiled its own microblogging app called 'Threads', aiming to rival Twitter. The app is set to roll out for iOS users from July 6, according to the Apple App Store, and has also made an appearance on the Google Play Store for Android users. However, prior to its launch, former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk have started mocking the app.

Dorsey recently took to Twitter, stating, "All your threads belong to us." He accompanied the tweet with screenshots of the Threads app, revealing its data collection practices. The collected data includes health and fitness information, purchases, contact details, user-generated content, sensitive information, browsing history, and more. Musk echoed Dorsey's sentiments by responding with a simple "Yeah."

Some users swiftly pointed out the extensive amount of data collected by Twitter, refuting the idea that Threads would be any different. It became apparent that Twitter collects a similar amount of data as Threads, encompassing health and fitness data and other categories.

In response to the controversy, a Meta spokesperson stated to The Verge, "We've been hearing from creators and public figures who are interested in having a platform that is sanely run." However, Twitter users raised concerns about the term "sanely run," suggesting that the app might collect users' data extensively, as indicated in the app's description.

Mark Zuckerberg has not made any official announcements regarding the Threads app as of yet. According to the Google Play Store listing, Threads is described as a platform where communities converge to discuss various topics of interest. Users can follow and connect with their favorite creators and like-minded individuals, fostering discussions on shared passions and building a loyal following.

Meanwhile, Musk has recently announced a new 'rate limit' on Twitter, disappointing many users. The social media company has established a limit of 1000 tweets for unverified users and 10,000 tweets for verified users. This decision has sparked disappointment and debate among Twitter users.
