Edge 70 Series Launched in India: Slimmest Mid-Range Phone Yet

Motorola has recently launched the Edge 70 series for the mid-range segment in India, wherein the phone was pitched as a premium one. With the thickness of only 5.99mm and the weight of just 159 grams, Motorola Edge 70 is among the slimmest phones currently available in the Indian market. The Edge 70 despite having a thin profile, it is made with sturdy materials and has IP68 and IP69 rating which allows it to be underwater up to 1.5m for 30 minutes and withstand high-pressure water jets. Moreover, it is compliant with MIL-STD-810H military durability standards.
The device presents a 6.7-inch pOLED screen with 2712x1220 pixels resolution, which is compatible with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 10-bit color depth. Motorola claims that the panel can deliver a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits and has a coating of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for protection. Among other hardware, there are dual-SIM slots, stereo speakers enhanced by Dolby Atmos, a USB Type-C port, and an on-screen fingerprint scanner.
The Edge 70 is equipped with the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor with the Adreno 722 GPU under the hood. It comes with Android 16 and Motorola’s Hello UI overlay, and it promises three years of OS updates through 2028 and four years of security updates till 2029. The specs include 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 68W TurboPower fast charging support.
A dual-camera setup is available at the rear that consists of a 50MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization, and a 50MP ultra-wide 120-degree lens with autofocus and macro capability. The front of the phone contains a 50MP camera for taking selfies and video calls. The rear cameras and the front cameras are capable of recording 4K videos at 60fps each.
Motorola is rolling out the Edge 70 series in three PANTONE-certified hues: Bronze Green, Lily Pad, and Gadget Grey. The phone is available for Rs 29,999 in India.
Regarding market rivalry, the Edge 70 will compete with Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, OnePlus Nord CE 5, Oppo F31 Pro, and Redmi Note 14 Pro, as the companies keep expanding their mid-range Android device portfolios.
