UIDAI’s e-Aadhaar App: AI & Face ID to Simplify Aadhaar Updates by Late 2025

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is developing a new all-in-one mobile application—tentatively named e-Aadhaar—set to roll out by the end of 2025. The app will allow users to update key personal details such as name, date of birth, address, and mobile number directly from their smartphones, removing the need for in-person visits to Aadhaar centers.
AI, Face ID & QR Code for Secure, Convenient Updates
The app will integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Face-ID technology for secure, seamless access. Starting November 2025, biometric authentication—fingerprint and iris scan—will be required only at enrollment centers, simplifying the process and reducing paperwork, fraud risk, and wait times.
Automatic Document Verification from Government Databases
UIDAI plans to automatically fetch and verify data from government-authorized sources. Supported documents may include birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licenses, PDS ration cards, MNREGA records, and even electricity bills—making address updates smoother and more reliable.
Digital Identity and QR Code-based Sharing
Beyond updates, the app will enable users to verify their Aadhaar digitally using QR codes, eliminating the need for photocopies. Full or masked Aadhaar details may be shared remotely and securely.
Why It Matters
