Samsung has begun the global rollout of its One UI 8 update for the latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The new software, built on Android 16, is initially available in South Korea and is expected to expand to other markets, including the United States and India, in the coming weeks.

The update introduces multiple improvements targeting performance, multitasking, and battery management on foldable devices. Samsung’s One UI 8 aims to enhance user interaction through refined interface designs, smoother animations, and AI-assisted features such as advanced text prediction, translation tools, and enhanced photo editing.

Step-by-Step Manual Update Instructions

Users who have not received the automatic notification for One UI 8 can install the update manually. The procedure involves:

1. Open Settings on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Z Flip 6.

2. Scroll to Software update.

3. Tap Download and install.

4. If available, the update will download automatically.

5. Once downloaded, choose Install now or schedule for later.

Samsung recommends ensuring the device is charged above 50% and connected to a stable Wi-Fi network before starting the update.

Key Features in One UI 8 for Foldables

* Redesigned interface with improved transitions for seamless folding and multitasking.

* AI-powered enhancements for smarter typing, translation, and photo editing.

* Upgraded multitasking capabilities, including easier split-screen and app pairing on the large Fold 6 display.

* Enhanced Flex Mode for Z Flip 6, supporting better camera operation, music playback, and video call controls.

* Optimized battery usage and background app management for extended device runtime.

* September 2025 security patch to strengthen device protection against vulnerabilities.

Following its South Korea launch, the One UI 8 update is expected to reach international users shortly, beginning with the US. The rollout follows the recent update for Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series.

Samsung’s roadmap indicates that additional Galaxy models, including the Galaxy S24 series, mid-range devices such as Galaxy A56 5G and Galaxy A36 5G, and other popular handsets, are scheduled to receive One UI 8 between September and October 2025.

Tipster Tarun Vats confirmed the firmware builds for the foldables on X (formerly Twitter):

* Galaxy Z Fold 6: F956NKSU2CYI7 / F956NOKR2CYI7 / F956NKSU2CYHC

* Galaxy Z Flip 6: F741NKSU2CYI6 / F741NOKR2CYI6 / F741NKSU2CYHC

Samsung users are advised to monitor software update notifications to ensure timely access to the latest features.
