The internet layer faced yet another enormous blockage since Cloudflare got a large outage, and an entire list of the most popular ones was affected websites' and apps'. As a result, a lot of people got the error message “500 Internal Server Error” which affected both the services and users. Just a month after the previous outage, this time the incident has again put into question the extent of the online ecosystem's reliance on Cloudflare.
Major Websites and Apps Impacted by the Cloudflare Outage
The outage affected the following platforms:
Zerodha: The largest financial app in India not only went down, but also disrupted trading and financial transactions for thousands of users.
DownDetector: The reliable outage monitoring service was also among the affected ones, which users found, not easy to check the status of other faulted services.
Quillbot: It is the world's widely used AI-powered writing and proofreading tool, which also faced downtime and showed “local_rate_limited” errors.
Canva: The outage made the whole world of designers and artists struggle as the service became inaccessible.
Crunchyroll: Anime's top streaming service was not only interrupted but also worried anime fans all over the globe.
DoorDash: The food delivery app was on the list as well, but the delays only affected a few users.
Fortnite: The gamers reached us for help as the battle royale and complaining games reported more than 1,000 complaints related to downtime.
That was a clear reminder of how closely connected Cloudflare is to the digital background of the world's apps and websites.
Cloudflare’s Response
Through an official statement, Cloudflare confirmed the happening. The company applied a fix and is monitoring the results closely. Preliminary investigations indicate that the outage might correlate to the Cloudflare Dashboard and APIs which resulted in failed requests or error messages for users of these services.
Cloudflare keeps on saying that the problem is being dealt with at the internal level and that the normal service is gradually being restored.
