Tracking the savings of employees who have made contributions to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is now possible through various means, both digital and mobile, among others. EPF which is a significant part of the retirement planning process also allows for partial withdrawal for education, marriage, medical emergencies, or housing reasons.
The PF accounts can be viewed by employees through the EPFO website, which serves as a simple method of accessing the EPF information. To check your balance, go to epfindia.gov.in and then click on the ‘Our Services’ section. From the dropdown, select ‘For Employees’ and then click on ‘Member Passbook’. It will be required for the user to log in using their Universal Account Number (UAN) and password. The PF passbook will be displayed on the screen after successful login and it can also be downloaded for later reference.
Checking PF via SMS
Employees with UAN registered with EPFO can get their PF details via SMS. To use the service, text to 7738299899 in the following format: EPFOHO UAN ENG; “ENG” must be substituted with the first three letters of your desired language, e.g., HIN for Hindi or TAM for Tamil. Available languages for this service are English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali.
Missed Call Service for Quick Updates
One more easy method is the missed call facility. If your mobile number is linked with your UAN, just call 011-22901406 and hang up. You will get the PF balance details sent to your registered phone number automatically.
