ChatGPT now supports image and voice note analysis on WhatsApp

As of February 2025, OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT's capabilities on WhatsApp. Previously limited to answering text-based queries, users can now send images and voice notes to the AI chatbot. Upon receiving an image, ChatGPT can process it and provide detailed responses based on the content. Additionally, when voice notes are sent, ChatGPT converts the audio to text before processing and responding.
This feature builds on OpenAI's earlier announcement that ChatGPT was accessible on WhatsApp, offering the same functionality as the standalone app, but with these new features now added. Paid ChatGPT users will also have the ability to sign in to their accounts through WhatsApp, unlocking premium perks on the go.
To get started, simply save the number 1-800-242-8478 as a contact, refresh your WhatsApp, and the ChatGPT official account will appear in your contact list. This added functionality may prove useful when dealing with slow internet speeds or phones with limited storage and processing power, as users no longer need the app to engage with ChatGPT on WhatsApp.
