India's Unique Identification Authority (UIDAI) has rolled out a novel Aadhaar mobile application, thereby taking a huge step in digital identity management for about 1.4 billion people. The app has made it possible for users to not only keep their Aadhaar details on smartphones but also access and manage them in a secure way.
Digital Aadhaar storage options were quite limited back then, and the previous mAadhaar app could only do basic things. Having Aadhaar cards on a single device was a real headache, and changing important personal details like name, address, or mobile number was a hassle as it needed one to go physically to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. But the newly launched app has come up with solutions for these problems and it has also introduced many other advanced features.
Aadhaar App Key Features
Multiple Profiles in One App: It is now possible for users to attach Aadhaar cards for their five family members at once on a single device, as long as they are using the same mobile number. This makes it easier to manage the Aadhaar of a whole household.
Biometric Security Lock: Users can lock their Aadhaar data and give access to only the people who have the authorization through biometric authentication, thus keeping the sensitive information secure.
Selective Data Sharing: The application gives individuals the power to decide what information gets shared. For example, a person may choose to show just their name and picture while keeping their address and date of birth private.
QR Code Verification: Aadhaar QR codes can be created and detected for fast verification at banks, governmental offices, and service centers, thus making identification paperless.
Offline Access: Once the setting is done, the user can see the saved Aadhaar data even without an internet connection, although access to online is required for the complete functionality.
The usage history log is the main feature of activity monitoring that enables users to know when, where and how their Aadhaar information has been accessed, thus providing security and promoting transparency.
Steps to Get Started with the New Aadhaar Application

Register Your Aadhaar: Start the app, choose your language and type in the 12-digit Aadhaar number.
Verify with OTP: The last step of verification is to receive an OTP on the mobile number registered with Aadhaar and enter it.
Face Authentication: Take a picture of your face to verify that you are the real user and the Aadhaar will not be misused.
Set a Security PIN: Assemble a PIN consisting of six digits to lock your account and control entry.
