Activision has introduced a new phase of anti-cheat protection for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 as the title advances through its beta testing stage. The publisher detailed the update in a recent blog post, noting that the system marks the company’s most extensive security rollout yet across the franchise.

The initiative centers on major enhancements to Ricochet, Activision’s proprietary anti-cheat technology. The upgrades are designed to improve detection accuracy against unauthorized programs and preserve fair play throughout multiplayer sessions.

For PC participants, Activision now mandates the activation of TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot as prerequisites to join the beta. The company said these measures, similar to those adopted during the Battlefield 6 beta, are aimed at preventing external software from manipulating gameplay data.

The requirements may affect players using older or custom-built PCs, some of which could require firmware updates or separate TPM modules for compatibility. Activision recommended that users verify hardware readiness before joining subsequent beta tests.

When Black Ops 7 officially releases on November 14, Activision plans to introduce an additional verification layer called Remote Attestation. The feature will allow servers to confirm that a player’s device maintains its expected security state during gameplay and flag deviations for review.

According to the company, the combined deployment of Secure Boot, Ricochet upgrades, and Remote Attestation will form the most complete anti-cheat system implemented in the Call of Duty series to date. The system will continue evolving based on telemetry data and player feedback gathered during the beta phase.

The Black Ops 7 beta began on October 2 with a three-day early access period for pre-order customers, followed by open testing from October 5–8. The beta was available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.

The full version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will launch on November 14 across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
