California based Biliti Electric launches manufacturing facility in Hyderabad

Biliti Electric, a California-based electric tuk-tuk manufacturer, has commenced the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India. This state-of-the-art plant will not only produce battery packs but also Biliti Electric's signature three-wheeled electric vehicles.

The facility, spanning approximately 13 acres, is projected to have a production capacity of 2,000 vehicles per month. Reports indicate that Biliti Electric has invested over Rs 400 crore (equivalent to approximately 48.33 million US dollars) into this venture, which is anticipated to generate around 10,000 employment opportunities.

CEO Raja Gayam highlighted the company's broader vision at the groundbreaking ceremony, emphasizing Biliti Electric's commitment to revolutionizing urban mobility. He elaborated on their expertise in establishing a scalable battery swapping network for urban transportation and energy storage. Additionally, Gayam underscored their focus on advancing modular battery technology suitable for diverse vehicle formats, with a primary focus on three-wheelers for last-mile delivery services.

Biliti Electric's three-wheelers are specifically designed for delivery purposes and are equipped with swappable batteries, facilitating efficient operations. While the company showcased a fuel-cell trike in 2022, it is no longer featured on their official website.

Established in 2021, Biliti Electric currently operates assembly plants in the United States, Portugal, and Kenya. With deployments in over 15 countries across five continents, the company collaborates with major corporations such as Amazon, Ikea, and Flipkart in providing innovative electric vehicle solutions.
