Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Pad 2 with cellular connectivity and stylus support, targeting users seeking affordable, always-connected tablets under Rs 20,000. Positioned as a practical choice for students and casual consumers, the device aims to enhance usability without adding significant cost.

The updated Redmi Pad features SIM-based 4G LTE access, addressing one of the key limitations in budget tablets: lack of continuous internet access. Stylus compatibility has also been added, expanding functionality for note-taking and basic digital interaction.

While the hardware doesn't push boundaries, it offers functional choices like an 11-inch LCD screen with 90Hz refresh rate. This setup caters to both educational use and casual media consumption, though brightness levels outdoors remain limited. Indoors, however, the display delivers sufficiently.

Powered by MediaTek's Helio G100 Ultra chipset, the tablet ships with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Xiaomi appears to have prioritized smooth operation over performance benchmarks, with minor lags during multitasking. For standard tasks and lightweight gaming, performance is deemed acceptable.

Software-wise, the Redmi Pad 2 runs HyperOS with minimal bloatware. Despite the high refresh rate, occasional sluggish UI responses were noted. Xiaomi may address these inconsistencies in future firmware updates.

The inclusion of 4G LTE ensures round-the-clock internet access without reliance on Wi-Fi. Stereo speakers offer adequate output, though audio quality lacks depth. Users might prefer external audio accessories for a better experience.

Support for the Redmi Smart Pen expands the device's appeal. Though not comparable to high-end styluses, it provides a reasonable tool for drawing or quick annotations, enhancing productivity in the budget segment.

Battery backup is a strong suit for the device. Equipped with a 9000mAh cell, the tablet delivers up to two days of regular usage. Charging remains slow with an 18W adapter, which could be a drawback for users needing quick power top-ups.
