Big smartphone reveals: Apple, Oppo, Samsung gear up for new releases
September brings iPhone 17 series, Oppo F31 range, and Samsung S25 FE. Check launch dates, specs, and expected pricing in India.

The smartphone market is set for a busy September as three global brands gear up to unveil their latest devices within days of one another. Apple has confirmed its annual autumn event for September 9, while Oppo is preparing to introduce its F31 lineup in mid-September. Samsung is also expected to debut the Galaxy S25 FE during the first week of the month.
Apple will host its “Awe Dropping” keynote at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, where five new iPhones are expected. The lineup will include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Plus, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the new iPhone 17 Air.
The standard iPhone 17 is anticipated to feature an aluminum frame and the new A19 Bionic chip. The Plus model is expected to carry similar specifications but with a larger display. The iPhone 17 Pro series is tipped to bring titanium construction, the A19 Pro processor, and storage options of up to 2TB. The Pro Max model could include a periscope zoom camera and the largest battery in the lineup.
The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be Apple’s thinnest smartphone to date at 5.5mm, potentially making trade-offs in battery life and camera hardware. The Pro models are expected to retain Apple’s ProMotion 120Hz display technology.
Oppo F31 Series Details
According to industry reports, Oppo plans to unveil the F31 lineup between September 12 and 14 in India. The range may include three models: Oppo F31 5G with MediaTek Dimensity 6300, Oppo F31 Pro 5G with Dimensity 7300, and Oppo F31 Pro+ 5G powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.
The series is expected to feature up to 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, flat display panels, and 80W fast charging. The F31 series will follow Oppo’s F29 range, which launched in March 2025.
Samsung Galaxy S25 FE Launch Plans
Samsung is preparing to introduce the Galaxy S25 FE during a Galaxy Event on September 4, alongside the Galaxy Tab S11 series. Sales in India are expected to begin mid-September.
The Galaxy S25 FE will reportedly include a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The smartphone is expected to run on the Exynos 2400 chipset and ship with Android 16-based One UI 8. Camera specifications may include a 50MP primary lens with optical stabilisation, a 12MP ultra-wide, an 8MP telephoto with 3x zoom, and a 12MP selfie camera. Battery capacity is estimated at 4,900mAh with 45W wired and 15W wireless charging support. Pricing in India could range between Rs 60,000 and Rs 65,000.
