India Startup Foundation is going to hold ‘India Startup Fest23’ in Bengaluru on August 11 and 12, 2023, with a theme ‘Innovation at bottom of the Pyramid’ for boost rural entrepreneurship in the country.

The event, which is going to the held for the second time in the city, is likely to see participation of around 10,000 startups with more than 500 investors & mentors.

Around 100 CEO & CXO-level personalities along with 30 eminent speakers will also take part in the event, the foundation said.

“This festival is a culmination of various initiatives of Indian government such as Startup India, Digital India, Make-in-India, and will bring together more than 10,000 startups to advance their missions and drive towards an Atma-Nirbhar Bharat,” the India Startup Foundation said.

“Taking place at India’s own Silicon Valley (Bengaluru) & the hub for the world class technologies emerging from India, this will be a path breaking exposure for the startups involved in this segment and will help them take their products and services global,” it added.

Many international delegations will attend the event, providing startups opportunities to go global. Delegates from London Chamber of Commerce & Industry, EU, US, UAE and UK are likely to participate in the event.

The event will host multiple seminars and panel discussions on how rural innovation and entrepreneurship can enable next billion consumers for the world.

Currently, startups globally are going through a rough patch as funding winter has made growth paralysed in many of these new age companies. And India is no exception.

According to a joint study published by Bain and Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA), funding for Indian startups dropped to $25. 7 billion in 2022 as compared to $38.5 billion in 2021 as global economic slowdown loomed.

Private equity and venture capital funding fell 60.5 percent to $6.64 billion in January-March period of from $16.8 billion a year earlier.

Against this backdrop, the event will showcase ways to innovate in the rural entrepreneurship space and is likely to provide boost to startups operating in this area.
