Electronic Arts (EA) has made it public that the free-to-play title Battlefield RedSec, which is a spin-off of the Battlefield franchise, is ready for playing. Battlefield 6 Season 1 comes along with the release of RedSec, allowing players to enjoy it as a standalone game that doesn’t require buying the main title. Furthermore, Battlefield 6 players can merge their content and also play together with friends who are solely absorbed in RedSec.

Most of the platforms that the game is compatible with include Windows through the EA App, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The game is available also for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.

Modes of Play in Battlefield RedSec

The game has three major modes:

Battle Royale: A maximum of 100 players (25 squads of four) or 50-player duos are in a fight for survival in the environment. The classic Battlefield’ classes—Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon—are there but with a few changes and adjustments made for BR gameplay. Also, each player gets unique starting gadgets and unlockable Training Paths, through which the player may level up by doing missions and locating hidden intel caches. Moreover, there will be high-risk objectives for the players, who will be given access to vehicles and advanced gear. RedSec is all about tactical destruction, and thus, players can reshape the battlefield by breaking down walls and tearing down buildings.

The map is filled with ground, water, and air vehicles, like helicopters, boats, and small transports, for instance, golf carts. There are three types of loot crates—Common, Rare, and Class-specific—and besides that, there are specific tools for the Engineers and Support players to gain access to the vaults and resupply with ammo. There are optional contracts that give additional rewards or tactical advantages while the shrinking environmental ring continues to exert pressure on the match. respawn Points are the locations where squads can revive fallen teammates under certain conditions.

Gauntlet: An elimination mode based on rounds where four-player teams of eight fight it out on a maximum of four random tasks. After each mission, the teams with the lowest scores get removed from the game. The remaining teams keep fighting until a final task decides the champion. Intermediary players can be transferred to other teams. Points are awarded based on mission objectives, kills not included, and best squads get bonus Training Path progression.

Portal: In RedSec, the players will have access to a toolbox for creation adapted from Battlefield 6, which gives them the ability to design their own maps and customize the game modes. Developers can modify various aspects of the game like the number of players, availability of weapons and vehicles, their health regeneration rate, and movement speed.

The Fort Lyndon map is divided into six parts for playing, two of which will be available at the time of launch and the other four are planned for future updates. The new SDK has RedSec-specific assets, and with the seasonal updates, the assets will keep growing. Along with RedSec, players who own Battlefield 6 too can merge the content and create hybrid game modes that include melee-only Conquest or explosive-focused Team Deathmatch on Fort Lyndon.

EA calls Fort Lyndon the largest map in the entire franchise with its rich mix of different environments such as large cities, military bases, suburban areas, beaches and a golf course. With the proper portions of the map being divided into six playspaces, the Portal creators are allowed to manipulate the map to fit the scale and layout, thereby offering a lot of options for the community to create their contents.

Detailed guides for the Battle Royale and Gauntlet modes have been uploaded by EA on its official website, where new players will find it easy to get acquainted with the objectives, classes, and progression mechanics quickly.
