Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is set to take place on June 9, 2025, and according to early reports, the tech giant is expected to put software innovation in the spotlight—rather than artificial intelligence.

Industry analysts, including Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, suggest that Apple is treating 2025 as a “gap year” for AI. While some updates related to Apple Intelligence may still surface—such as a new SDK for third-party developers—this year’s WWDC will primarily focus on substantial updates across Apple’s core software platforms, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

➤ New Naming Convention for Apple Software

Apple may introduce a more intuitive naming format, aligning software versions with the release year. This change is aimed at improving user clarity for current and future updates—making names like iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 more commonplace.

➤ Major UI Redesign Inspired by VisionOS

In a bid to unify the Apple ecosystem, WWDC 2025 is expected to showcase a new design language inspired by VisionOS, the operating system behind the Apple Vision Pro headset. Expect translucent icons, redesigned camera apps, and a streamlined user interface across devices.

➤ New Gaming Dashboard App Incoming?

Another exciting possibility is a new gaming app that will act as a central dashboard for gamers. The app could track achievements, leaderboards, and possibly integrate with Game Center, giving Apple users a more immersive and consolidated gaming experience.

➤ Siri's AI Upgrade Not Ready Yet

Despite ongoing efforts to revamp Siri with Apple Intelligence, including possible architectural overhauls, these features are reportedly not expected to roll out until 2026. That means AI-powered Siri upgrades may only be previewed or hinted at during this year’s keynote.
